Land Use Multifunctions in Metropolis Fringe: Spatiotemporal Identification and Trade-Off Analysis

As the transition zone between urban and rural, metropolis fringe is an area where various functions permeate compete fiercely with each other. Understanding land use (LUFs) their relationships are crucial for both rural sustainable development. In this study, we established a conceptual framework of multifunctions in proposed improved evaluation method to quantify LUFs at grid scale. The bivariate spatial autocorrelation was used explore trade-offs among LUFs. Taking Qingpu District Shanghai as case found that displayed pronounced spatiotemporal heterogeneity. economic- social-dominated functional trade-off mainly occurred east part Qingpu, whereas ecological function dominated west. Human preference corresponding policies were key factors leading these trade-offs. Additionally, zoning resolve existing conflicts. These findings can provide scientific information efficient management fringe.
